I was first introduced to Rotary when I was 16 years old when I participated in a year-long Rotary Youth Exchange. From this experience, I was able to see the huge impact Rotary clubs have on their local communities and the wider world. After 11 years I decided that it was time that I gave back to this amazing organisation and decided to go back to the club who originally was my Youth Exchange sponsoring club.

I am originally from China and have been here for over 10 years. In 2009, my daughter introduced me to her Rotary club in Invercargill. Although my English is not so good, I joined and found that the members of the club were very warm, welcoming and friendly to me. When they knew I could teach dance, they put me in charge of the festival activities. They were very patient to help me and give me guidance.
